    Assessment OF Learning – end of a unit, year – judgment about a student’s performance in relation to the standards/curriculum.  Can be level descriptors or numerical.  Data held and used for management purposes.

    Assessment FOR Learning – ongoing and self-reflective. Teacher/Student knows where he/she is, where he/she wants to be, and how to “fill the gap.”  Involves teacher and student – continual reflection and review about progress.  Teachers and peers provide quality feedback, empowering student to take appropriate action.
