School Board approves five-year Superintendent contract
Jason Bowman, currently the Acting Superintendent of Neshaminy School District, will have his title shortened to Superintendent on July 1 under the terms of a five-year contract unanimously approved by the School Board at their Tuesday, March 5 meeting. The contract runs through June 30, 2029.
Mr. Bowman, a 1991 Neshaminy High School graduate and resident of the district, joined Neshaminy in 2021 as the Director of Secondary Education. He has been serving as Substitute Superintendent and Acting Superintendent following the departure of his predecessor, Dr. Rob McGee. Prior to his time at Neshaminy, he was a physics instructor at Bristol HS, an engineering and technology teacher at Bensalem, later becoming the STEM Supervisor and Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. He is a trained mechanical engineer and spent over 15 years in that field before pursuing advanced degrees and a change of career into K-12 education.
Following the vote at the meeting, Mr. Bowman said, "It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve the community and school district where I grew up and graduated with my wife, Denise, who is here this evening, and where we have both lived almost our entire lives and where we chose to raise our two boys who are also Neshaminy grads."
"We are extremely fortunate here in Neshaminy to have a tremendous team of administrators, support staff, teachers, who all work together every day to foster an environment where our students feel valued, supported and are inspired each day to reach their full potential," he added.
In a letter to the community shared after the meeting, Mr. Bowman outlined a number of current and planned district initiatives that he is looking forward to pursuing. These include new English Language Arts, Science and Math programs, modernizing technology programs, new course offerings at the middle and high school levels, and completing the district's next Comprehensive Plan (currently under way).
