The road that brought me into education is slightly different from many of my
colleagues. I did not become an educator until late in my thirties. Prior to
becoming an educator, I served in the United States Navy. After being
Honorably discharged, I ventured into a contracting business and taught martial
arts while attending college in the evenings. Currently, I am working on a Ph.D.
on literacy learning with a focus on stated-mandated writing assessments. The
research in this area has shown me that there are multiple views on what success
looks like. It is my goal to help prepare all of the children who come through
Neshaminy's doors to take on the many complex literacy tasks ahead of them in
college and the work force.
