YEAH BABY!!! HISTORY ROCKS!!
Hello and welcome to our ANCIENT WORLD "community-only" portal! We will use CANVAS, our Learning Management System, for daily lessons. Each lesson in the modules section of Canvas will allow students to read directions, access assignments, submit work, take quizzes/tests, interact with peers, and watch videos to help them visualize "the past."
In our class, we will practice positively interacting with one another as we learn to appreciate history. This will be done, in a cooperative classroom setting, by examining how the patterns that emerge when we look at the past can help guide our present and future. In a perfect world, students would do this naturally but in our modern, hyper-interactive world, that usually isn't the case. My goal is to bridge the gap between students' lives and the lives of the past through the use of modern technology and in-person social interaction.
My goals for the year: 1. Make you feel cared about. 2. Build your self-confidence. 3. Increase your ability to make positive connections with others. 4. Make you laugh. 5. Teach you something about our present connection to the past. All in that order.
LET'S DO THIS THING!
"To me, history ought to be a source of pleasure. It isn't just part of our civic responsibility. To me, it's an enlargement of the experience of being alive, just the way literature or art or music is.History is a guide to navigation in perilous times.History is who we are and why we are the way we are."David McCullough - Author / Storyteller
