    Goal: To gain an understanding and appreciation for the world in which we live.

    Objectives:

    • What are the dynamics and fundamental purpose of Earth, and its place in our universe?
    • How does matter and energy move through Earth’s Systems to produce observable phenomenon on our planet?
    • How do we as humans affect and interact with our environment.

    Classroom Policies:

    • Website: All materials can be found on this website – Homework, Daily Logs, and other important information.
    • Canvas: Canvas is a fully functional learning management system. The class will utilize group features, share links, embed projects, and access files/documents and other resources anytime, anywhere online.
    • Learning Target: The focus and guide for the lesson. After each class the student will be able to demonstrate the objective effectively.
    • Warm-Up: A question to motivate the student to gain interest into the lesson for the day or review learning targets and content from a previous lesson
    • Classwork: A list of every activity that is to be done in class; it is up to the student to make sure that they complete each assigned activity, if not completed in class it is due in addition to the assigned homework.
    • Homework: Given to reinforce the material that we covered in class. Homework will be written in agendas. A homework calendar can be found on our teacher website and on Canvas.
    • Science Folders: Non-Computer work will be organized and maintained in a folder with a table of contents.
    • Class Materials: Students are to be prepared for class each day. This includes having their class notebook, a USB memory drive, and materials to conduct class business (pen, paper, glue sticks, colored pencils, etc.).
    • Make-Up Work: Students have access to our class website as well as Amplify and Canvas. All late work must be submitted prior to taking the unit/chapter assessment.
    • Quizzes and Tests: Tests will take place approximately once per chapter of study. Quizzes will be given on a regular basis. Students will be given the chance to re-take tests and quizzes upon conference with teacher.

    • Extra Credit: There are two types of extra credit. (1) Entire class offering – this is not dependent on individual class progress. (2) Individual – For students that have shown diligence, responsibility, and consistent effort. The individual assignment will not be given or accepted within two weeks of the end or start of a marking period
