Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Joanne Blum

Dear Parents,

My name is Joanne Blum and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher this year.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself, both professionally and personally.

I hold a dual certification in special education from Bloomsburg University and in regular education from Holy Family College.  Also, I earned a masters degree in educational administration from Rider University and have continued to take graduate level courses to enhance my teaching skills.  My professional experience includes teaching 26 years in the Neshaminy School District.  I am excited to teach 5th grade at Maple Point this year! For the past 10 years I have taught 5th grade at Pearl Buck Elementary and before that I  taught  regular education students in  3rd grade at Albert Schweitzer and  6th grade at Tawanka.   I have taught special education students in grades 3,5,6, and 12 early in my career.

As a child I grew up in Levittown and spent my school years in Neshaminy.  My husband and I moved back into the area so that our children could have the same positive experiences that I have had by living in this community.   We have three children:  Lindsay, Amanda, and Bobby.  Amanda and Bobby are currently enrolled in the Neshaminy  School District and  Lindsay is attending East Stroudsburg University where she will earn a degree in Middle Level Education and play field hockey.   All three children  are involved in many activities which include football, basketball, and field hockey.  I am definitely aware of the challenges that are involved in raising a family and understand the pressures that you face with your fifth grade child.

My goal as a teacher is to help every child reach their highest potential in my classroom.  I hold high expectations for my students and will do all that I can to help them meet those expectations.  I believe that communication between home and school is important in order to have a successful year.  You are the most important person in your child’s life and your involvement and support mean a great deal.  I welcome any ideas, questions, or concerns that you might have.  I look forward to an exciting and productive year!

                                                                           Sincerely,
                                                                           Joanne Blum
