Home — School Compact

As a parent, I will
- provide adequate space and enough time for my child to do homework and monitor homework completion.
- send my child to school on time, well-fed, and well-rested on a regular basis.
- encourage my child to read at home, visit the local library, read with my child, and let my child see me read
- monitor his/her TV viewing and/or video game usage.
- check my child’s take-home folder or agenda book on a daily basis.
- encourage my child's efforts and be available for questions.
- communicate regularly with my child's teachers.
- volunteer in my child’s classroom and attend school functions and conferences.
- support the school in developing positive behaviors and encouraging my child to show respect for all members of the school community and the school property.
- participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of my child and positive use of extracurricular time.
As a student, I will
- always try to do my best work.
- always try to be on my best behavior.
- work cooperatively with my classmates.
- help to keep my school safe.
- come to school prepared with my homework and my supplies.
- believe that I can learn and will learn.
- attend school regularly.
- observe regular study hours.
- ask for help when I need it.
As a Principal, I, Dr. Orlando, will
- provide an environment that allows for positive communication between the teacher, parent, and student(s).
- have high expectations for myself, students, and other staff.
- address the importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis.
- provide a safe, positive and healthy environment for learning.
- respect the cultural differences of students and their families.
As teachers, staff, and as a school, we will
- believe that each student can learn.
- treat each child with dignity and respect.
- provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables each child served under this part to meet the challenging state academic standards.
- strive to address the individual needs of the student.
- enforce school and classroom rules fairly and consistently.
- communicate and work with families to support students' learning, expressing clear expectations for both students and families.
- address the importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis, through parent-teacher conferences, at least annually, during which the compact shall be discussed as the compact relates to the individual child’s achievement; frequent reports to parents on their children’s progress; reasonable access to staff, opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and observation of classroom activities; and ensuring regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff and, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.
- seek ways to involve parents in the school program.
- provide necessary assistance to parents to facilitate at-home reading.
- acknowledge that parents are vital to the success of this school and its students.
The Home-School has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in Title I, Part A programs, as evidenced by the Title 1 Annual Meetings on September 19th and 20th, 2024.
This compact will be in effect for the period of one year. The school will make available this policy to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before October 31, 2024.
