Please click on this document: SafeArrival User Guide (PDF) for information on SafeArrival and how to set it up. The application is live, and parents and guardians can begin using it immediately. Every Student, Every Day

As we transition from summer to the 2024-2025 school year, we want to remind our Neshaminy families that every student's attendance, every day, is crucial to their academic success. We need your support to instill the habit of regular school attendance. It's important to understand that students who miss school frequently are at risk of lower academic achievement, failure, and even dropping out. Click on the links below to read letters to Neshaminy families about the importance of regular attendance and specific information on Neshaminy attendance policies.

  • 6th Grade Service Project – Water for South Sudan

A hand holding a blue drop of waterDescription automatically generated Help the class of 2031 leave their mark of service by helping the people of South Sudan gain access to clean water!

As a class, the 6th graders read A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park which brings light to the struggles, challenges, and illnesses that millions of people face in Sudan each day due to the lack of clean water.  The main character, Salva Dut, recounts his own journey as he became one of the Lost Boys of Sudan and how he was able to turn a negative experience into a positive one.

Back in 2003, he founded the charity, “Water for Sudan.” Their mission is to deliver sustainable quality of life services to the people of South Sudan by efficiently providing access to clean, safe water and improving hygiene and sanitation practices in areas of great need.

The 2024 Iron Giraffe Challenge calls on schools to each raise a minimum of $1000 toward a new drilling rig, with a goal to raise $150,000 from all schools combined.  Since this is our 2nd year reading this text and bringing this service project into 6th grade, we set our donation goal to $1000.

We are putting a few fundraising opportunities together to maximize our efforts and to support our Sandburg Striders.

Below are a few ways you and your child can contribute to this great fundraiser.

    1. Ask for donations from your friends and family.  Donations can be turned into their homeroom teacher. Use the attached form to keep track of your generous donations.  Donations can be cash or check. Please write the check to “Carl Sandburg Middle School” and add “6th grade” to the memo line.
    2. Share this link with friends and family or on social media Sandburg Striders 2
    3. Make an online donation to the “Sandburg Striders” using this QR code. A qr code with a drop of waterAI-generated content may be incorrect.

    * To create a personal profile, click on “Join team”, enter your personal information, and share

      with family and friends. (Optional)

    1. Purchase a bracelet that outlines one of Salva’s famous quotes, “One step at a time…One day at a time” and his organization Water for Sudan. Bracelet sales begin May 19

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

    With all appreciation,

    The 6th grade teachers
