Place Value
Period: a group of three places in a number, usually separated by commas. The first three periods are the ones period, the thousands period, and the millions period.
Standard form: the way a number is written with numerals.
Word form: the way a number is written with words or said aloud.
Expanded form: a way a number is written to show the place value of each digit. For example, 249 = 200 + 40 + 9
Place value: the value assigned to a digit based on its position in a number. For example, the 2 in 324 is in the tens place and has a value of 20 or 2 tens.
