The FOSS (Full Option Science System) program is used to implement our science curriculum. This program uses a hands-on approach to learning. The children participate in active investigations with a variety of materials. The investigations are guided by questions, and the students are provided with observation worksheets to record data. The students will keep a notebook in the science section of their binder. This notebook will include the vocabulary and important concepts that the students learn as they progress through the unit. The students will have a Table of Contents to help them keep their notebook organized. The pages of the notebook should be kept in the same order as they appear on the Table of Contents. The children will be informed of an upcoming test at least a week prior to a test, so they have plenty of time to prepare for the test.
