Mrs. Dillon's 3rd Grade
May 2025 Newsletter
Wow! Can you believe that today is the first day of May? April just seemed to fly by. It will be the last month of school before we know it.
Math Calendar & Reading Logs: These were due today. If your child forgot theirs, please have them bring it in tomorrow.
3rd Grade Trip: We are getting ready for our 3rd grade field trip to Camp America on Thursday, May 8th. Camp America will provide a highly engaged outdoor program. Students will rotate through activities that will get progressively harder to solve. Students will have fun while working on problem solving, team building, strategic planning, decision making, and SEL skills like empathy and friendship.
In order for our trip to be successful, students will need to bring the following things:
-
Sneakers
-
Hats and/or sunglasses
-
Sunscreen applied at home
-
Appropriate dress for the weather, we will be outside rain or shine
-
A disposable lunch (all items can be thrown out after eating)
-
Many students ordered the school bagged lunch for that day. It will be waiting for them in the classroom.
-
Field Day: Our school-wide Field Day will be on Friday, May 16th. Students have been assigned to one of four different teams. The Home and School has provided T-shirts for all the students to wear on that day. I will give your child their shirt the Thursday before Field Day.
Academic Activities we will work on this month are:
Reading: We are starting Module 8 tomorrow. This Module is about inventors and their inventions.
Writing: Students will research an inventor this month.
Math: We will be working on Area and Perimeter for a week or so in the math workbook. Then we will be doing several different Area and Perimeter activities.
Social Studies: We will be finishing our Unit about College and Career Readiness. Then we will spend the rest of the month completing the last several chapters in the Social Studies textbook. Chapter 9 is about global trade. Chapter 10 discusses public services. Chapter 11 is about community services and having a voice in our communities.
