Are you ready for a Summer Road Trip of Reading?
Grab some books and try to complete our summer challenge!
Parents,
It is important for students to continue reading over the summer months to help prevent Summer Slide. Summer Slide is the academic loss children experience during the extended summer break.
To help promote summer reading and to help prevent Summer Slide, we are hoping all students will participate in our Summer Reading Challenge!
Here are the directions for this challenge:
- Read, Read, Read!
- Use the Summer Reading Road Map in this packet to record your reading.
- For every 15 minutes you read, color in a road sign at the bottom of the page. The goal is to color in all the road signs at the bottom.
- Record the titles of 10 books on the back of the road map.
- Complete the 3 writing activities in the packet.
These forms will be due within the first week of school (A specific date will be given in the fall). Each child that completes this challenge will be celebrated in September.
Bonus Challenge:
Complete 5 of the activities listed throughout the road map. Once completed, color in the corresponding road sign on the map.
