Parent-Student-Teacher Compact 2022-2023
Parents, students, and teachers, along with administrators and staff on a local and district level, share in the responsibility of improving student achievement at Hoover Elementary School. The District Mission Statement and Beliefs make clear the commitment of District employees to the growth and achievement of each student, and acknowledges the critical role of the family this process.
NESHAMINY SCHOOL DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT:

With this common mission and these core beliefs, we each pledge to do our part so that our joint efforts will result in each student improving her/his foundational literacy skills and becoming successful readers, writers, and thinkers.
PARENTS’ PLEDGE - I will:
- let my child’s teacher know when he/she experiences difficulty with something at home;
- K-1 parents: read aloud to and listen to my child read aloud every day;
Grades 2-4: encourage my child to read a minimum of 15 minutes every night;
- talk to my child about my own favorite books, and let him/her see me reading and writing;
- ask my child questions about math homework and encourage her/him to think and talk through her/his work; and
- praise my child for a job well done. Being successful is about working hard and not giving up, even when progress is minimal.
STUDENTS’ PLEDGE - I will:
- let my teacher and family know if I need help;
- read on my own and with my family every day;
- work on reading, spelling, and math every day using materials my teachers send home;
- work hard to become a better reader, writer, mathematician and thinker.
TEACHER’S PLEDGE - I will:
- provide a safe and welcoming environment in which all students can achieve;
- monitor student progress and share updates on progress through parent conferences and progress reports;
- communicate when I have concerns about student progress or behavior;
- respond to emails, phone calls and notes in a timely manner;
- stay informed of best practices and the latest developments in education so I can support student growth in the best way possible.
READING TEACHER’S PLEDGE - I will:
- communicate when I have concerns about student progress or behavior;
- monitor student progress and update parents at Parent- Teacher conferences in the middle and at the end of the academic year;
- respond to emails, phone calls and notes in a timely manner;
- stay informed of best practices and the latest developments in the fields of literacy and math so I can support student growth in the best way possible; and
- publish parent tips and information in the Hoover Hawk Times at least three times during the school year.
This Parent-Student-School Compact has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in Title I, Part A programs, as evidenced by the parent meeting held on October 11, 2022.
This compact will be in effect for the period of one year. The school will make available this compact to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before November 28, 2022.
