    TITLE 1 PARENT-STUDENT-TEACHER COMPACT

    2024-2025

    Parents, students, and teachers, along with administrators and staff on a local and district level, share in the responsibility of improving student achievement at Hoover Elementary School. The District Mission Statement and Beliefs make clear the commitment of District employees to the growth and achievement of each student and acknowledges the critical role of the family in this process.

    NESHAMINY SCHOOL DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT:

    The Neshaminy community builds futures by empowering each child to become a productive citizen and a lifelong learner.

    DISTRICT BELIEFS:

    The Neshaminy community believes that . . .

    Children are the future.

    All people can learn

    • People learn in different ways and at different rates.

    • Achievement is realized through challenge.

    • Trust promotes creative problem solving.

    All people have worth.

    • Laughter, joy, and hope are essential for a quality life.

    • Success builds self-esteem.

    • Valuing diversity strengthens our society.

    • People have a responsibility to themselves and others. Family is the cornerstone of society.

    A quality education is a right.

    • Excellence in education requires support, sacrifice, and involvement from the total community.

    • All people have the right to a safe and healthy learning environment.

    With this common mission and these core beliefs, we each pledge to do our part so that our joint efforts will result in each student improving her/his foundational literacy and math skills and becoming more successful readers, writers, mathematicians and thinkers.

    Title 1 Parent-Teacher-School Compact

    PARENT’S PLEDGE - I will…

    • Let my child’s teacher know when he/she  has trouble with something at home;

    • K-1 parents: read aloud to and listen to my child read aloud every day;

    • Grades 2-4: encourage my child to read a minimum of 15 minutes every night;

    • talk to my child about my own favorite books, and let him/her see me reading and writing; and

    • praise my child for a job well done. Being successful is about working hard and not giving up, even when progress is minimal.

    STUDENT’S PLEDGE - I will…

    • let my teacher and family know if I need help;

    • read on my own and with my family every day;

    • work on my reading, spelling and math every day using materials my teachers send home; and

    • work hard to become a better reader, writer, mathematician and thinker.

    TEACHER’S PLEDGE - I will…

    • communicate when I have concerns about student progress or behavior in a language the family can understand (Google Translate, Language Line);

    • monitor student progress and update information about progress to parents at Parent Teacher conferences (report cards, progress reports, Link It data; IReady Diagnostic scores, Dibels scores);

    • respond to phone calls and notes in a timely manner (email, phone calls, parent/teacher conferences);

    • Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate within the classroom (parties, celebrations, school wide events) when feasible;

    • stay informed of best practice and the latest developments in the fields of literacy and math so I can support student growth in the best way possible.

    This Parent-Student-School Compact has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in Title I, Part A programs, as evidenced by the parent meeting held on September 19, 2024.
