• Elementary Guidance Philosophy
     

    Elementary School Guidance Counselors are committed to making a difference and to providing opportunities to all students to help them become lifelong learners. Additionally, Guidance Counselors believe the WORTH of all students and are dedicated to advocating for students in the educational setting. Guidance Counselors promote a safe environment that is based on Prevention and Intervention.

     

    Neshaminy School District promotes the model of developmental guidance. In this model , the Elementary Counselors role is to guide students in acquiring attitudes, knowledge, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and throughout life. Counselors help students develop and apply skills needed to enhance social, personal, emotional and academic growth. these areas align with the American School Counselor Association ( ASCA) national standards.

     

    Elementary School Guidance Counselors provide a wide range of services to the school community. Our goal is to assist students in achieving their intellectual, social, and emotional potential. 
    Listed below are the primary services offered by the School Counselor:
     

    • Individual and small group guidance 
    • Consultation with teachers, administrators and parents
    • Coordinate appropriate referrals for school based services
    • Coordinate appropriate referrals for community agencies
    • Coordinate standardized testing
