Walter Miller is a Schoolwide Title I School

Walter Miller is a Schoolwide Title I school.  As such, our Title I services can provide comprehensive strategies for improving the entire school so that every student achieves high levels of academic proficiency.  Classroom teachers and Title I staff will utilize data from benchmark assessments, Title 1Iassessments, and classroom work to determine those showing the greatest need.  Students showing the greatest need will receive focused Title 1 services.

    What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federally-funded program in education.  The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education.  The program helps students having difficulties with reading by providing funds for extra attention, as well as materials and teachers.

What is a Schoolwide Title I Program?

Schools must meet certain requirements to be eligible for a Schoolwide Program. Services focus on improving the academic achievements of ALL students, especially those who need assistance above and beyond that provided by regular classroom teachers.  Schoolwide programs serve all children in the school.  All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall Schoolwide program.

    How are Parents Involved?

Parents are notified about Title I services and encouraged to participate in school activities/meetings.  Families may participate in Title I meetings and learning opportunities throughout the school year.  Parents are provided Title I information via newsletters, conferences, school webpages, and Title I meetings.
