    Dear Parents,

I want to welcome your child to the wonderful world of third grade, and to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  I am a graduate of Neshaminy, and I grew up in Levittown.  I went to Temple University to receive my teaching certificate in early childhood and elementary education.  I have my master’s degree and 40 plus credits beyond that degree.  I’ve been teaching in Neshaminy for 32 years.  I taught at Samuel Everitt Elementary for 15 years, Lower South Elementary for 11 years and Tawanka for 6 years. During those years, most of the time I spent teaching third grade.  I love to inspire kids to read and write.

In my personal life, I’ve been married for 32 years this coming April, and I have 3 children.  My husband’s name is Jeff and he teaches second grade in the Cherry Hill School District. He loves to work on cars and restored a 1969 Triumph and a 1969 Nova.  My son Chris is 26, my daughter Julia is 24 and my youngest daughter Shannon is 20. Chris graduated from Temple University with a Philosophy degree. He is currently substitute teaching in Neshaminy and is working on his Master’s degree in education. He hosts a radio show on the Princeton radio station WPRB. He enjoys music, reading, hiking and writing.  Julia graduated from the University of the Arts with a B.A. degree in  animation and illustration. She works at Trader Joes and is trying to break into the industry of illustrating children’s books.  She loves to play the guitar, sing, read and draw.  Shannon attends Bucks County Community College.  She sings and plays the cello and piano.  Shannon also loves to horseback ride, raise plants  and play video games. She is planning to go to SUNY ESF pursuing a degree in wildlife biology.  We  have a 13-month-old dachshund named Rocco, and  a white rabbit named Max.  I love to read, garden and play the piano when I can.

I feel very strongly about keeping the lines of communication open between home and school.  Each week, a Friday newsletter will be posted on my website to let you know what we’ve been doing in class, and any events coming in the future.  I update my webpage daily with homework assignments, so go to the Tawanka website and check it out!  I prefer to use my e-mail  or the Canvas inbox to answer any questions that you have about what is happening in class.  My email address is: hdavis@neshaminy.org.  If you have an urgent problem, please call the school, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. For privacy purposes, if your child is having trouble in school or at home, I prefer that you call me so we can talk.  I have a supply list on my website. On the supply list, I only require 1 binder, not two.  Please have the dividers placed in the binder labeled ( math, soc. st., writing, reading, science, DLR and other).  If you could have your child have all their supplies by the first day, I would greatly appreciate it.  This year I will be piloting a new reading program that I am very excited about. All teachers will be adding the Number Corners program to the existing math program as well. Please know that I will try my best to educate your child to meet their academic, social and emotional needs. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.

    Sincerely,

    Holly Davis
