Field Trips
Teachers that wish to take their students on a Field Trip, must first obtain the permission of the building principal.
Field Trips are considered an extension of the regular classroom learning. Some field trips can be as simple as a walk around the school grounds to look for examples of erosion, viewing wildlife in their natural habitats, going outside to meet their Trucker Buddy from K-Mart that has brought Flat Stanley back to Hoover after a seven state trip, or collecting litter to help keep our environment clean. Other trips may take students to a local park to meet with their Pen Pals, sing holiday songs to senior citizens or visit a middle school for orientation. These trips occur within the boundaries of the Neshaminy School District. A simple parent permission slip may be all that is necessary in order to participate in this type of trip. Parents are often selected by the classroom teacher to serve as chaperones for in-district trips. Major Field Trips, which take students beyond the boundaries of our school district, are often referred to as Class Trips will take students to one of several educational locations to help students gain a better understanding of the world around them. These trips may include the Philadelphia Zoo, Franklin Institute, Camden Aquarium, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell Square, Constitution Center, Waste Management Recycling Center and Landfill, William Penn Mansion, or a local Nature Center such as Churchville Nature Center.
Field trips are considered a very valuable educational experience for the children. The Hoover PTO has generously provided funds throughout the years to enable every individual student in every class, every year to experience the wonders of the world around them through the funding of class field trips. Many thanks to the PTO for their generous support of all the children.
