 Dear Parents,

          Welcome to an exciting year as your child enters first grade.  This year will be one of the most exciting years your child will experience in school.  It is a year of transition and adventure, and one in which you will see many changes as your child builds a foundation of new skills to use for their future learning success.  Our theme this year is “First Grade is a HOOT” as your child will be a "Wise" thinker, learning lots of new, neat things!

          First grade is a year that should be looked upon with excitement but there may also be some apprehension on the part of both students and parents.  First and foremost, we want children to love learning and to have a positive self-esteem about themselves.  Each child will progress at their own rate, gaining skills as they are developmentally ready.  Please be sure to celebrate your child’s work to keep them enthusiastic and proud of his/her work.

          Please fill out and return the form regarding how your child is going home and return it on the first day of school.  Also, we have a working snack time each afternoon so please pack a small, healthy snack for your child (All drinks must have a lid that closes- NO juice boxes or juice bags please).

          I certainly look forward to a fun and rewarding school year as I have the chance to teach your child.  It is my hope that he/she will develop a solid foundation of learning in my classroom that he/she can build on throughout their educational career.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Just a reminder....the first day of school for first graders is Thursday August 29th!
