Homework is given 3 - 4 times a week in kindergarten. It is very important that you check your child's homework folder every night, along with reviewing the weekly homework sheet. There may be more detailed directions for the homework on the weekly sheet, so please read it carefully. All writing homework should be done neatly in pencil. Your child should always write their name themselves on their homework.
Homework is given as a way to review and reinforce what we have learned in class. It should only take your child 10 - 15 minutes to complete. If it is taking longer or they are really struggling, please let me know so I can work on it with them in class.
Please read with your child every day in addition to the daily homework assignments. You can use this time to practice letter recognition, identifying and reading words from the Word Wall, looking for punctuation, retelling the story or just talking about their favorite part.
Practice the At-Home reading Sheets for segmenting and blending once they are introduced at conferences in November. An explanation sheet will be sent with these at that time.
Practice 10/20 frames once they are introduced and sent home.
