    Physical Education Elementary Curriculum Statements

     

    In Kindergarten the students:

    ·       Explore the movement patterns of basic skills of running, jumping, throwing and catching

    ·       Explore working effectively with others through participation in various small groupactivities    

    ·       Explore basic movement concepts and vocabulary

    ·       Explore social, folk and creative dances

    ·       Learn appropriate activities and games that can be played during recess and free time

     

    In Grade 1 the students:

    ·       Practice the movement patterns of basic skills

    ·       Practice working effectively with others through participation in various small group activities

    ·       Learn basic movement concepts and vocabulary

    ·       Learn a variety of social, folk and creative dances

    ·       Learn appropriate activities and games that can be played during recess and freetime 

     

    In Grade 2 the students:

    ·       Continue to develop movement patterns of basic skills

    ·       Continue to develop working effectively with others, promoting positive personal and social behavior

    ·       Continue to develop basic movement concepts and learn vocabulary relevant to movement activities

    ·       Continue to learn a variety of social, folk and creative dances

    ·       Continue to learn appropriate activities and games that can be played during recess and free time

     

    In Grade 3 the students:

    ·       Continue to practice movement patterns of basic

    ·       Develop communication, negotiation and problem solving

    ·       Continue to practice basic movement concepts by creating more complex patterns and combinations of movement sequences

    ·       Continue to learn appropriate activities and games that can be played during recess and free time

    ·       Learn the basic strategies and skills used in territorial or invasion games

     

     In Grade 4 the students:

    ·       Continue to develop communication, negotiation and problem solving skills

    ·       Continue to refine basic movement concepts by creating more complex patterns and combinations of movement sequences

    ·       Continue to learn appropriate activities and games that can be played during recess and free time

    ·       Continue to learn basic strategies and skills used in territorial or invasion games

    ·       Learn basic bike handling skills, safety procedures and operating concepts to enhance effective riding.
