The Science PSSA 's will be Tuesday 4/28 and Wednesday, 4/29 next week. Students will be taking one test each morning. You can help your child perform at his or her optimal level by making sure they get a good night's sleep and feeding them a nutritious breakfast each morning.

Attendance is very important so please make sure your child is here and on time. Please send your child with at least two #2 pencils with good erasers along with a book to read if they finish early. Remind them how important these assessments are and encourage them to do their very best. Don't forget to wish them luck as they walk out the door! Thank you for helping to make this test their best one ever.

Attention Great Adventure Chaperones:  Thank you for volunteering and turning in all of your clearances!  Please be here tomorrow morning no later then 8:15am and no earlier than 7:50am.  We are not permitted to allow you in the building before to 7:50am.  Please do not park in front of the school.  Please park in the side parking lot near the sport fields.  Come in through the main doors and go into the cafeteria.  You will not need to sign in at the office, you will be signing in, in the cafeteria.
 

In case you missed the message that went out - Thank you very much for volunteering to help with our Six Flags trip! Please arrive at the school by 8:15 AM. Please park in the auditorium parking lot and allow time to walk into the building.  Report to the front lobby where you will sign in and pick up your envelope. I will provide coffee and donuts in the cafeteria. At 8:30 I will be reviewing your roles and responsibilities for the trip. Please do not be late.

Attention Parents: We will be returning from Great Adventure to Carl Sandburg by 6:30pm.  Please be here at 6:30pm to pick up your child. 
 
Our Six Flags All School Trip is tomorrow, April 24.  Chaperones will be responsible for a small group of students. You must stay with the group all day. You will take roll on the bus, coming and going. You will also hold the students’ meal vouchers and distribute when we all meet at 12:55 PM at the pavilion entrance near Dark Knight. The cost for chaperones is $60 which includes admission, bus, lunch buffet and return ticket for the 2015 season. If you have not sent in your payment for the trip please submit it at this time. Please arrive at school by 8:15 AM on the day of the tripPlease park in the lot out front of the auditorium (not in front of the school). Upon entering the main doors, turn right into the cafeteria and have a seat.  I will be meeting with all of you to go over your instructions.

8th grade Information:
 
The 8th grade class trip to Washington DC is scheduled for Monday, June 1st, 2015.  As of 3/27/15, we have 18 chaperones that have turned in there completed clearances.  We had 46 parents volunteer and were able to take 32. We selected parents in the order we received requests and sent letters home to those selected. We initially stated that the deadline for clearances was 4/1, but due to our concerns we would like to hear back from all chaperones by Friday, 3/27/15. If you are unable to have your clearances at that time, we will move chronologically down the list of remaining parent volunteers. If you know that you are no longer able to chaperone, please let us know ASAP.   Please email your students homeroom teacher with any questions.
 
 
Attention ALL 8th graders - The Al Durante Service Award Applications are now ready and due back to the PE Dept by May 7th.  Applications can be picked up during PE in the girls PE office.   
 
8th grade Move-Up Day has been set for June 9 at 8:30 AM in the auditorium. It will run approximately 2 hours. All families are invited!
 
 


Afterschool Activities/Intramurals:
 
Mr. Durante plans to have Flag football weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's from 3pm to 4pm. 
 

Intramural Indoor Soccer starts Wednesday, 4/22.  Meet in the Gym.

Homework Help Information:
 
Homework Help on Monday, 4/20 and Thursday 4/23 with Miss Martin is canceled this week.

The new date has been set for the March madness dance … It is now the “May Madness” Dance and will be rescheduled for May 8th   from 7pm – 9pm ~ cost is $5.  We will have water, smoothies, pretzels, baked goods, and candy wheel for an  additional cost and of course dancing with DJ Noi.  Come to sign up for our “Minute to Win it Basketball Shootout”  in the gym… see how many baskets you can make in 1 minute!!!  Cost is $1 to participate.  Prizes will be awarded …    Flea Market Flyer     Flea Market Sign Up Form

SPRING CLEANING?   Sandburg is having a Flea Market on May 16, 2015 from 8am to 12pm ~ Clean out your closets ~ Earn some extra Ca$h!!!  Cost is $20 for 6ft table (half of school café’ table) OR $30 for 12ft table (entire school café’ table).  See attached flyer.  For additional questions, please contact Sandburg PTO.  If interested, complete the attached Contract and send in with a check payable to Sandburg PTO.  Thank you for your continued Support!!! 
 
  The Sandburg PTO would like to invite you to join us in the Sesame Classic which is taking place on May 17th. It’s a 1 mile fun run/walk or 5k.   Cost is $25 per registrant if signed up by May 6th.  Website is www.linmarksports.com. Be sure to use Group Name: Carl Sandburg to receive credit for our school.  In addition, participants will receive a t-shirt, a free pass to Sesame Place, and refreshments.  It will be a fun day! We hope you can be there!

Sport Team Information: 


 Monday, April 27, during homeroom, Neshaminy High School Head Football Coach, Coach Wilmot will be coming to talk to any 8th grade football players and anyone interested in playing football at the high school next year. Please check in to homeroom and then report to the cafeteria.
 
Attention all 8th grade girls interested in trying-out for the high school field hockey team next year. There will be a mandatory informational meeting on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:30 pm in the Black Box Theater at the High School. One parent must be present with you. If you have any questions please see Miss K in the library. 
 
Every Wednesday, there will be NO 7th grade softball practice.

Student Council Information:

 
 It's time to go to Disney.... with Student Council's Movie Night!  Come on out on Friday, May 1st at 6 pm for a wonderful movie: Saving Mr. Banks starring Tom Hanks as Walt Disney!  Concessions being sold include: Popcorn, Hot dogs, Candy, and water.  With a purchase of a $5 ticket, you get a complimentary bag of Popcorn and bottle of water.  Tickets will be sold at the door.  Saving Mr. Banks is rated PG-13 which means that 6th & 7th grade movie-goers need a signed permission slip returned to Mr. Simons by the start of the film.  Permission slips are in E-10 or on the Student Council bulletin board in the main hallway.  Please see a Student Council Representative or Mr. Simons with any questions.
