General Math

  • Materials:  3 ring binder with paper or spiral notebook, pencils, folder, TI30XIIS or TI 34 calculator (recommended).

  • Course: This is a learning support math course designed to meet the student’s individual needs while at the same time mirroring the regular education curriculum.

  • Text book:  We use the Glencoe Course 2 text (7th grade) and Glencoe Course 3 text (8th grade).  These are consumable text books meaning the students will write in the books.  They should NOT tear any pages out.

  • Homework:  Students can expect to have homework Monday thru Thursday.  They will almost always have time to begin it in class.  Examples of each type of problem should be in their notes.  Homework is meant for practice and review of concepts learned in class.  Every problem should be attempted.

  • Grading:  Homework is worth 5 points.  Tests and quizzes are worth from 20-100 points.  Students are given advanced notice of tests and quizzes.  Test taking skills and study techniques are stressed before testing.

  • Late work:  Students are responsible for assignments missed due to absence.  Missed notes and work assigned should be obtained on the next day back after an absence.  Assignments missed due to absence should be turned in within one week for full credit.  All other late work can be turned in for half credit up until that unit test or the end of the marking period (whatever comes first).

- Organization and study skills are stressed.

- Spiraling assessments will also be used to target individual student’s areas of need.
