The annual Senior Ball drew over 300 area Senior Citizens to Gym 3 at Neshaminy High School Friday April 20 for an evening of dining, dancing, and friendship across the generations.
The event is sponsored by the NHS Student Council under adviser Richard Kain and the Service Learning Club under advisers Cate Romano and Kelly Macauley. The students decorated the gym with hundreds of balloons, draped nautical-themed murals and decorations across the stands, walls and hallway in preparation for the event, then along with staff and parent volunteers served their guests a buffet dinner. A photo booth provided the opportunity to record the day using some fun props, and both the students and seniors enjoyed spending time together while eating their meals and dancing to music provided by a DJ.
The event is presented free of charge to the visitors, who come from area senior communities and nursing homes. The clubs raise money throughout the year to purchase items for the Senior Ball and local businesses and community donors also contributed food, beverages and other supplies.
