Important Information for Families of

Cyber Charter School Students

[NOT Neshaminy SD Virtual Academy]

A new state law (Act 47 of 2025) requires families of students enrolled in cyber charter schools to complete an updated Charter School Enrollment Form and provide proof of residency.

What Parents/Guardians Need to Do

By March 1, 2026:

  • Provide proof that you live in your school district – using the Charter School Enrollment Form

  • Submit this proof to:

  • Your child’s cyber charter school, and

Every School Year After That:
Parents/Guardians must submit updated proof of residency twice each year:

  • By November 1

  • By March 1

Families experiencing homelessness are not required to provide this documentation.

What Counts as Proof of Residency?

You may submit any ONE of the following (dated within the last three months, when required):

  • A current lease agreement or mortgage statement [preferred]

  • A bank statement [preferred]

  • A tax bill [preferred]

  • An insurance document [preferred]

  • A valid vehicle registration

  • A valid driver’s license or PA state ID

  • Mail from a federal or state government agency (such as benefits information, voter registration, or tax documents) [preferred]

Why This Is Happening

This requirement is part of a new state law. Schools and districts are required to follow it. Because this was passed during the current school year, timelines are tight, and schools understand families may need support.

What Happens If There Is a Residency Question?

If your school district reviews your paperwork and believes your child does not live in the district, the district must notify the cyber charter school and the Pennsylvania Department of Education within 10 days.

There is a formal process for reviewing and appealing that decision if needed.
