Appointment of Board Member

vacant Region 2 Board seat. Mr.
Schoenstadt nominated Mrs. June Bostwick and Mrs. Butville seconded the
nomination. There were no other
nominations. Dr. Frank moved the
nominations for the vacant Region 2 Board seat be closed and Mr. Eccles seconded
the motion. The Board unanimously
approved the motion. The vote was unanimous to appoint Mrs. Bostwick to fill the
Region 2 Board vacancy.
Mr. Paradise,
Business Administrator/Notary Public, administered the oath of office to Mrs. June Bostwick.
Mr. Stack
explained the Region 2 Board vacancy was posted and advertised in November and
only one application was received. He
said the Board members are happy to have Mrs. Bostwick back on the Board.
Other Board Business -
There was no other board business discussed.
Public Comment -
There was a three minute time limit per speaker.
Mr. Stack requested public comment.
Mr. Graham, Neshaminy High School senior/Langhorne resident, explained he
is the President of the Graphic Arts Club and video editor of the Playwickia. Over the last two years the Graphic Arts Club has videotaped
more than 50 programs. There is a
large student interest in the club. However,
there is not enough space or equipment for all of the students interested in the
club.
Mr. Graham urged
the Board to consider a television production class for Neshaminy High School.
Currently, the students work with a linear editing system, which is not
the industry standard. In the industry, film is digitized off of a tape, put into a
computer and broken down to the millionth of a second frame by frame.
This allows for split-second changes between cameras on CD quality audio.
Students leaving the current program are ill prepared to enter basic
college programs. A number of
colleges’ basic course is not linear editing.
Mr. Graham stated he would like Neshaminy’s television program to
become one of the best in the area. He
felt this goal can be achieved with the cooperation of the School Board and
community.
Mr. Mecleary
moved the meeting be adjourned and Mr. Schoenstadt seconded the motion. The Board unanimously approved the motion.
Mr. Stack adjourned the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
Carol A. Calvello
