When you read to your child be sure to use good expression to make the story fun for both you and your child. Look at and discuss the illustrations with your child. Have your child tell you about the characters, events, and what they liked about the story. Read stories that are about a grade level above your child's reading level to encourage thinking and listening skills, even though your child is unable to read the story. Do not continue reading stories they do not enjoy.
